- Check whether repotting is needed
Look for roots filling the container or a growing medium that has lost structure. Repot when needed, preferably as active growth begins.
- Keep the original planting depth
Add a little compost, place the root ball and keep its surface at the previous level. Do not bury the stem base or crown further. Leave a watering rim.

Repotting: the complete process
Prepare the root space thoughtfully

Check whether repotting is needed

Choose a suitable container
Allow a little fresh compost beside the existing root ball. A small root ball in a very large pot often stays wet too long. Secure a hanging basket or flower box safely.

Provide free drainage
Check drainage holes and clear blockages. A closed outer pot does not replace a growing pot with an outlet. A coarse extra layer is not required by these instructions.

Release the root ball gently
Loosen the container and support the plant by its root ball. Do not pull on leaves or thin vines. Preserve healthy roots and remove only loose old compost.

Keep the original planting depth
Add a little compost, place the root ball and keep its surface at the previous level. Do not bury the stem base or crown further. Leave a watering rim.

Fill around the root ball
Add fresh compost in small portions and firm gently. Close large gaps without compacting the medium hard.

Water and allow drainage
Moisten slowly and evenly, including the fresh compost beside the root ball. Remove excess water completely from the saucer or outer pot.

Arum Fertiliser: A humus-rich base for suitable container-grown Arum species. Match drainage and moisture to the actual species without a blanket bog-growing recommendation; account for starter nutrients before further feeding.
After the last frosts, gradually acclimatise plants to sun and outdoor conditions. Water moderately but thoroughly and allow drainage. Remove spent flower heads regularly and bring plants indoors before the first frost.

A humus-rich base for container growing: choose a pot and mix that allow water to drain well. Account for starter nutrients before later feeding.

Common questions
How much compost do I need?
The existing root ball already occupies space. Fresh compost is needed for the free space beside and beneath it, not automatically the container’s whole volume.
Is this compost peat-free?
No. The original label lists raised-bog peat as an ingredient.
