The compost is ready to use for suitable foliage plants in containers.
- Prepare the container
Choose a suitable pot with clear drainage holes and check the plant and root ball.
- Retain the root-ball level
Set the plant at its previous depth, fill around the sides and firm lightly.
- Water and check
Moisten the old root ball and new compost evenly; empty water from the outer pot.
Account for the initial fertiliser. The label specifies supplementary feeding after 4–6 weeks; allow for growth and season.

Application & repottingReady to use for potting suitable foliage plants and houseplants.
Use in pots and containers. The label restricts use to soil-independent growing methods; this compost is not recommended here as a general garden-soil improver.
Not every houseplant needs the same mix. For orchids, cacti, succulent species or strongly acid-loving plants, check the appropriate specialist medium first.
Begin supplementary feeding after 4 to 6 weeks according to the label. Account for existing nutrients and active growth.

Foliage-plant compost explained
Give foliage plants a suitable root zone

Fresh compost for your plant pot
This ready-to-use growing medium is for planting and repotting suitable foliage plants and houseplants. Fill around the existing root ball and retain its previous planting depth.
Details & background
This compost is intended for potting and planting suitable foliage plants and houseplants. In a container, the existing root ball, fresh compost and drainage together form the root zone.
Plants grown indoors do not all receive the same care. First check growing-medium requirements for water-storing species, orchids and specialist crops.
Compost & root conditions

A closer look at the mix
The original texture photograph shows organic fibres and pale mineral ingredients. The mix includes peat, forestry materials and perlite. Clear drainage and appropriate watering remain essential parts of root care.
Details & background
Organic and mineral ingredients make up the visible mix. Roots also need a suitable container, clear drainage and appropriate amounts of water.
The compost contains initial fertiliser. Full nutrient contents and other declared values are collected in one place in the product information.
Planting & repotting step by step

Keep watching after repotting
Monstera, rubber plant and pothos bring different foliage indoors. After repotting, check the old root ball as well as the fresh compost, and match watering, light and later feeding to each species.
The illustrated sequence shows repotting a rooted foliage plant in a container. The diagrams explain the process; the individual species determines pot choice, moisture and tolerance of pruning.
Repotting: the complete sequence
-
Assess the need to repot
Check the roots, compost and stability. Dense roots, insufficient space or poorly wetted compost may indicate that repotting is needed.
Prefer the start of active growth. A newly purchased plant does not automatically need a larger pot just because of its age.
-
Choose a suitable pot
The new pot needs clear drainage holes and a moderate amount of extra space around the root ball. An oversized pot may remain wet for a long time.
Allow for a watering rim. Compost quantity depends on the empty space around and below the root ball, not the entire pot volume.
-
Prepare drainage
Check the holes and any outer pot. Excess water must be able to drain and then be removed.
The diagram shows one possible arrangement with coarse material and permeable fleece. An extra layer does not replace clear drainage holes or suitable watering.
-
Ease the plant from its old pot
If the root ball is very dry, adjust its moisture carefully first. Support the plant and ease the ball out gently.
Do not pull on leaves or soft shoots. Preserve healthy roots where possible and gently loosen dense circling roots at the edge.
-
Set the root-ball height
Add some fresh compost and test the plant’s position. The old root-ball surface should stay level with the new compost surface.
Adjust the height using compost beneath the ball. Do not bury shoot bases or a rosette centre more deeply.
-
Fill evenly around the sides
Add compost around the root ball in small amounts. Hold the plant upright and fill larger gaps.
Firm only lightly without compressing hard. Check stability, planting depth and the remaining watering rim.
-
Water slowly
Moisten the old root ball and new compost in several gentle passes. Match the amount of water to the plant and root ball.
Check drainage and empty saucers or outer pots. Extra fertiliser cannot correct waterlogging.
-
Support establishment
Return the plant to a suitable position and avoid strong sun or cold draughts immediately after repotting.
Check moisture in both the old root ball and fresh growing medium. The compost is pre-fertilised; its label specifies feeding after 4–6 weeks, allowing for active growth.
After repotting
Check old roots and new compost
Do not judge moisture only at the surface. The old root ball and fresh compost can dry at different rates; adapt watering accordingly.
Maintain a suitable position
Light, room temperature and air movement affect water use. Do not move a sensitive foliage plant into unfamiliar strong sun after repotting.
Allow for initial nutrients
The label specifies 4–6 weeks before supplementary feeding. Growth and existing nutrition still matter afterwards; follow the chosen fertiliser’s own directions.
For later feeding: Money Tree Fertiliser.
For later feeding: Croton Fertiliser.
For later feeding: Sparrmannia Fertiliser.
For later feeding: Macrozamia Fertiliser.
Compost and care work together
Wilting or yellow leaves do not reliably indicate a lack of fertiliser. Check roots, moisture, light and pests before changing nutrient supply.
This growing medium is not a universal replacement for orchid bark, mineral cactus mixes or a specialised hydroponic system. Check its intended use against the species and growing method.
Common questions about foliage-plant compost
Is this compost equally suitable for every houseplant?
It is intended for foliage plants and houseplants, but special requirements still need checking. Orchids, many cacti and succulents, and acid-loving plants may need different media.
Is this compost peat-free?
No. The label states 60% organic soil material from raised-bog peat H2–H8, together with other organic and mineral ingredients.
Can I spread it over a garden bed?
The label restricts use to soil-independent growing methods. Use it here for potting and planting in suitable containers; choose a product intended for improving garden soil for that purpose.
When should I add fertiliser?
The compost is pre-fertilised. Its label specifies supplementary feeding after 4–6 weeks; account for growth, season and other nutrient supplies. Then follow the chosen fertiliser’s directions.
How much compost do I need for repotting?
Calculate the empty space around and beneath the existing root ball. The roots already occupy part of the new pot; an unnecessarily large container uses more compost and retains water longer.

Safety and storage
Safety instructions
Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Do not inhale dust, keep away from food and drink, and wash hands thoroughly after use. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Wash your face and hands thoroughly. Use diluted fertiliser promptly and keep it out of water bodies and wastewater.
