PropertiesProduct characteristics and guidance
50% raised-bog peat H2–H8, forestry materials such as wood fibre and bark humus, lava rock, raw clay, perlite, calcium carbonate and NPK fertiliser.
Growing-medium pH does not replace assessment of irrigation water. In lime-rich garden soil, a small acidic planting pocket is not a lasting solution.

-
Check the need to repot
Roots filling the pot or deteriorated compost can justify repotting. Choose the time according to species, growth and flowering.
-
Prepare a suitable container
Choose a stable container with free drainage. Match the new root space to the root ball; avoid an excessively large pot.
-
Keep drainage holes open
Remove blockages. Mesh can retain compost without sealing the drainage holes. Empty any decorative outer pot after watering.
-
Release the root ball gently
Loosen the container and support the root ball. Remove only loose compost and clearly dead roots. Retain healthy roots and green plant parts.
-
Keep the existing planting depth
Add a little compost, insert the root ball and preserve its previous surface level. Do not bury the stem base or crown more deeply.
-
Fill the spaces
Add compost around the root ball in small portions. Firm gently and close large air pockets without heavily compacting the mixture.
-
Water in and let it drain
Water slowly until excess runs from the base. Remove that excess. Afterwards check moisture in the old root ball and fresh compost separately. Use low-lime water for camellias where possible.
-
Support establishment
After repotting, protect the plant from stress and observe its actual water needs. Account for the compost’s initial nutrients; add feed only when needed.
After planting
According to the label, review supplementary feeding after 4–6 weeks. Account for existing nutrients and root condition.
Common questions
Is this compost peat-free?
No. The ingredients include raised-bog peat; see the product information for the full declaration.
When should I add feed?
According to the label, review supplementary feeding after 4–6 weeks. Account for existing nutrients and root condition. Growing-medium pH does not replace assessment of irrigation water. In lime-rich garden soil, a small acidic planting pocket is not a lasting solution.
How much compost do I need?
You need compost for the free space between existing roots and the container. Total pot volume is therefore not automatically the amount of fresh compost needed.
What matters most when planting?
For potted and container-grown camellias. Time repotting around flowering and the start of growth. Low-lime water and evenly moist, freely drained compost support cultivation.
