    Keep drainage holes clear; use a permeable cover against compost loss if needed. A thick gravel layer is not a general requirement and cannot replace a free outlet.

Which cacti is PRO Humus suitable for?

It suits cacti and succulents that require some humus. Check your species’ needs: if it requires a purely mineral medium, choose a suitable mineral mix.

Is this cactus compost peat-free?

No. The current label lists raised-bog peat along with rock, raw clay and sand. For peat-free cultivation, choose a growing medium explicitly labelled peat-free.

Should I choose 2.5 or 5 litres?

Allow for the spaces around and beneath the existing root balls. Both packs have the same declared composition; the quantity you need depends on your pots and number of plants.

Does a cactus need repotting every year?

Base the decision on root space and the condition of the growing medium. Repot when the root ball needs more room or the compost has lost its structure, taking your species’ resting period into account.

Is a much larger pot a better choice?

When more space is needed, choose a pot only moderately larger, with clear drainage holes. An oversized container can remain wet unnecessarily long.

Should I water heavily straight after repotting?

Do not immediately soak freshly damaged cactus roots. Adjust the timing and amount of the first watering to the species, temperature and root condition.

Should I add cactus fertiliser when repotting?

  • Use suitable gloves and a soft handling aid when repotting. Spines and fine bristles can cause injury; do not grip with bare hands.
  • Avoid dust and ventilate well when transferring the mix. Use a suitable mask when needed, particularly with respiratory conditions or allergies to mould or growing-medium ingredients.
  • Avoid eye contact; rinse with water if contact occurs. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after use.
  • Do not eat the compost. Keep away from children, pets, food and animal feed. If accidentally swallowed, seek medical advice and have the product information available.
  • Growing media may contain microorganisms. Protect open wounds; clean and cover injuries.
  • Keep bags closed during transport. Clear up spilled compost promptly to prevent slipping.
  • Dispose of residues and packaging according to local rules. Do not put into drains or release uncontrolled into the environment.
