Repotting in eight steps

1. Check the plant and timing

   Choose a well-rooted young plant or one that has outgrown its pot. Consider the variety and its eventual space needs. Plant outdoors only after frost risk has passed, following gradual hardening off. These instructions cover moving into a container.

2. Choose the new pot

   Provide enough root space for the variety and clear drainage holes. An unnecessarily large container can remain wet for a long time. Allow for a watering rim and, if needed, a support cane. Clean used containers before reusing them.

3. Secure drainage

   Check bottom holes and the saucer. Water should leave the pot freely. A bottom layer does not replace clear holes or appropriate watering.

4. Ease out the root ball

   Check moisture and remove the pot carefully. Support the root ball instead of pulling leaves or fruiting branches. Gently loosen densely circling roots at the edge. Preserve healthy fine roots and investigate suspicious rot first.

5. Set the planting depth

   Add compost to the bottom and test the root-ball position. Keep its previous surface at the same level. On grafted plants, keep the graft union above the compost. Insert supports now where practical, before filling the container completely.

6. Fill around the sides

   Add compost to gaps around the root ball in small amounts. Hold the plant upright and distribute the mix evenly. Firm only lightly. Do not bury more of the stem, and retain a clear watering rim.

7. Water gently

   Moisten the root ball and fresh compost slowly in several passes. The amount depends on pot size, root ball and existing moisture. Let surplus water drain and empty saucers. Do not try to correct waterlogging by adding more fertiliser.

8. Coordinate aftercare

   After moving the plant, choose a suitable warm, bright position and acclimatise gradually to unfamiliar full sun. Watch foliage and root-ball moisture. The compost is pre-fertilised. Its label specifies supplementary feeding after about six weeks, accounting for actual growth and other nutrients supplied.

Prepare the fertiliser separately

5 ml per 2.5 l of water.

With every watering until the fruit is ripe, during the growing season.

Regular application period: March–September.

1. Shake

   Shake the concentrate before use.

2. Prepare water

   Pour the required amount of water into a suitable container.

3. Select strength

   Use standard 100%, young plants 50%, or seedlings with leaves 20% of the basic dilution. Concentration does not determine the watering volume needed.

4. Measure concentrate

   Measure the calculated amount accurately with a suitable measuring aid.

5. Mix

   Add the concentrate to the water and mix evenly.

6. Apply as needed

   Feed the already moist root ball when nutrients are needed; do not overwater using a rigid water volume.

Do not mix the entire bottle into the bag. The compost is ready to use; dilute the concentrate separately with water.

10 litres of compost: ingredients

Plant materials, clay, perlite and fertiliser.

Label ingredients: plant materials from forestry, agriculture, gardening and landscaping; clay (expanded clay and raw clay); naturally derived perlite; calcium carbonate; organic NPK fertiliser with the trace elements Fe, Cu, B and Zn.

Organic and mineral ingredients form the root zone. A loose mix does not replace clear drainage holes or appropriate watering.

Values apply when placed on the market and may vary naturally. After extended storage, check nutrient contents before use if needed.

• Organic matter: 20%.
• pH (CaCl₂): 6.7.
• Salt content (KCl): 1.2 g/l.
• Nitrogen (N): 130 mg/l (CaCl₂).
• Phosphate (P₂O₅): 140 mg/l (CAL).

Fertiliser

• Do not use undiluted. Shake well before use.
• Keep out of reach of children and animals.
• Preferably use low-lime water or rainwater at 15–25 °C.
• Do not apply in direct sunlight or at temperatures below 5 °C or above 30 °C.
• Apply to a pre-moistened root zone or spray the foliage. Do not spray open flowers.
• Initially feed young plants at half the stated dose.

Store in a dry, dark place above 8 °C and at no more than 38 °C.

Compost

Keep out of reach of children and pets. Keep away from food and animal feed. Use only for the intended application.

Store sheltered from the weather in a dark place.

Protect from drying out, waterlogging and direct sunlight. Seal opened bags tightly and use them as soon as practical.
