A favourite green space can start small
A windowsill, a spare chair on the balcony or a quiet corner of the garden: a small beginning can give plants a lasting place in everyday life.

Start with a place you actually use
The best place for plants is somewhere you enjoy passing. Perhaps morning light reaches the kitchen window. Perhaps you want to spend a few minutes outside after work. Look at that spot first: how much room is available, how does the light move, and where can excess water drain?
One well-chosen plant can change a space more than a crowded collection. Give it room, and leave somewhere free to put things down, sit or simply look.
Three ideas to begin with
- A leaf as a focal point: Place a plant with an interesting leaf shape against a quiet background. Repeat a colour in the pot or saucer.
- A small harvesting moment: Where conditions suit them, herbs or a compact edible plant make a daily check particularly rewarding. Choose for light and space, not just the photograph.
- A green group: Two or three plants at different heights create a lively arrangement. Group plants whose needs fit comfortably into your care routine.
Let the idea grow with you
Watch your new favourite spot for a few weeks. Which plant is doing well? Does a pot get in the way? What would you like to see more often? A plant space is allowed to change. Different spacing, a turned pot or a little empty space can make a surprising difference.
Keep the next step small and specific: get to know one plant, prepare a container or work out a suitable watering routine. Explore individual plants in the plant catalogue. Our practical guides can help with the tasks that follow.
